Antisemitism in the Movies - International Workshop 2025

Thursday, 9 October – Friday, 10 October 2025

Thursday, 9 October – Friday, 10 October 2025

Institut für Judaistik, Hörsaal 1 (Uni-Campus Spitalgasse 2 / Hof 7.3, 1090 Wien)

The moving image has long shaped cultural memory, identity, and historical consciousness. This international workshop brings together leading scholars, film historians, and cultural theorists to critically explore cinematic representations of antisemitism across historical and national contexts.

From early cinema to contemporary streaming culture, participants will examine how film negotiates questions of prejudice, memory, and otherness, while engaging with theoretical frameworks, transnational perspectives, and pedagogical approaches.

Join us for two days of intellectually vibrant dialogue at the intersection of film, history and cultural studies.

Special Opening Event – Wednesday, 8 October 2025 Jewish Filmclub Vienna
