This open guest lecture traces women’s presence in medieval Hebrew sources, where they appear not only as bodies of care, observation, and study, but also as sources of knowledge and active agents in healing, and asks what it meant to care, who provided care, and how healing practices were shaped through intercultural exchange.

Carmen Caballero Navas is Senior Lecturer in Hebrew and Jewish Studies in the Department of Semitic Studies at the University of Granada. A leading expert in medieval Hebrew medicine and gynaecology, she has published widely in the field, including several seminal books and articles.
